What it is

Ferulic acid is an antioxidant that plants make to protect their cell walls. In skincare it is best known as a partner for vitamin C: it slows the rate at which ascorbic acid oxidises in the bottle.

It is an antioxidant in its own right, but we list it as a supporting ingredient because that is the job it does here.
