What it is

Squalane is the hydrogenated, shelf-stable form of squalene, a lipid that human sebum already contains. It is an emollient: it fills the small gaps between surface cells so skin feels smooth and loses water more slowly.

It has no colour or scent, does not go rancid, and is thin enough to use in cleansers, serums and creams alike.

How we use it

At 8% in Soft Oil Cleanser so skin stays soft after rinsing, 5% in Retinal Night Serum as a buffer, and 10% in Overnight Mask.

How to use

No special rules. Use the product it is in as directed, morning or evening.

Pairs well with

Almost anything. It is often paired with retinal and with humectants such as glycerin.
